High school youth from the Presbyterian Community Center (PCC) who participate in Family Service of Roanoke Valley’s Teen Outreach Program® (TOP®) planned a meaningful service project to help their community for the Martin Luther King Day of Service 2013. In collaboration with the American Cancer Society and Lee Hi Lanes, the TOP® students hosted a cancer research fundraiser called “Strike Out Cancer.” This bowl-for-a-cure event was open to the public and took place at Lee Hi Lanes from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013. Tickets were $5 each, and a Bake Sale helped supplement the fund-raiser. More than $600 in proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
